Carly Pearce earned her fourth career chart-topper this week as “What He Didn’t Do” claims the top spot on the Mediabase Country Airplay chart.
Upon hearing the news, Pearce took to social media to share a message of gratitude.

“The hardest season of my life brought me the most beautiful redemption story. The most personal song I’ve released to radio is the #1 song in the country. I’m drinking rose and I’m in my feels and just so grateful for the life you’ve given me,” she shared alongside #whathedidntdo.
Additionally, Pearce took to Instagram to share a series of photos and a message to her co-writers.
“WHAT HE DIDNT DO IS #1!!!! I can’t even put into words what this moment means,” she wrote. “When I wrote this song, I needed to be reminded of my worth & that I deserved better— and y’all have shown me that I DO matter. Thank you country radio, my co writers @emilyshackelton & Ashley Gorley, fans & my entire team for this. This season of my life started so painful, and is ending so beautiful. What a way to end the 29 chapter.”
“What He Didn’t Do” is featured on Pearce’s critically acclaimed album, 29: Written In Stone. The fan-favorite track was co-written by Pearce, Ashley Gorley and Emily Shackleton.
The song finds the GRAMMY-winning singer detailing everything her ex didn’t do throughout the relationship, rather than revealing what he officially did to end things.
“So I ain’t gonna go and tell you what he did/ But I’ll tell you what he didn’t do/ / Treat me right, put me first, be a man of his word/ Stay home ’cause he wanted to/ always fight for my love, hold on tight like it’s something/ That he couldn’t stand to lose/ The devil’s in the details, I won’t tell the hell that he put me through/ All I know is in the end, it wasn’t what he did, no/ It was what he didn’t do,” she sings.
The song was released to country radio in June of 2022 and became the most-added song upon its official add date.
Re-Live The Music Video
Later, Pearce brought the emotional track to life with a poignant music video. The clip symbolizes the closing of the chapter of her album 29.
“For me, I wanted to show the rebirth of where I am now in my life,” she told CMT about the concept of the music video. “This is the last single on ’29.’ It kind of feels like a wash of what has happened to me and I came out on the other side.”
The Kentucky native gave new life to 29: Written in Stone with the release of 29: WRITTEN IN STONE (LIVE FROM MUSIC CITY) on Friday (March 24). The collection was recorded during an intimate concert event at Marathon Music Works in Nashville and featured appearances from special guests Ashley McBryde (“Never Wanted To Be That Girl”), Lee Brice (“I Hope You’re Happy Now”), The Isaacs (“Easy Going”), Matthew West (“Truth Be Told”), and Jenee Fleenor (“29”).
On Saturday evening (March 25), Peare wrapped her stint on Blake Shelton’s Back To The Honky Tonk Tour.
100th Opry Performance
Next, Carly Pearce will step into the iconic circle at the Grand Ole Opry for the 100th time. Her milestone performance will take place on Tuesday, April 11, 2023.
“When I made my Grand Ole Opry debut in 2015, I had hopes and dreams that I would be able to align with them in a much larger way as my career progressed,” said Pearce. “To now be at my 100th performance and to think about everything that has happened in the years that followed my debut, I am so proud to be a member of the Opry and know that they are a true partner of mine.”
To celebrate the occasion, Pearce revealed plans to team up with Opry Entertainment to launch a personally-curated line of exclusive merchandise.
“I am also so excited to have a new merchandise line launching with the Grand Ole Opry,” Pearce shared in a press release. “It will forever be a huge part of my story & a huge passion in my life to continue to keep the Opry at the forefront of our genre.”
