Shania Twain has always been known to make a statement when it comes to her style, and now, she’s taking things to the next level as she experiments with different hair colors.

From platinum blonde to vibrant red and bubblegum pink, she’s trying it all. While on the red carpet of the 2023 CMT Awards, Twain explained to E! that the inspiration behind her creative new looks is her graying hair.

“Over the years, I have had many different styles,” she said. “I’m playing more with color right now, and I’m enjoying that because I’m going gray.”

Instead of shielding herself from this next phase of her life, Shania Twain reveals she’s excited to continue trying new ways to switch up her style because as she wrote on Instagram, “Life is too short to wear boring clothes!!”

“As I go gray, I’m like, ‘I might as well toy around with different colors,’ I might change my hair color every week,” Twain added. “Why not? I’ll have an empty palette. I’m experimenting with that.”

Her ever-changing hair colors have now become another accessory to her stunning ensembles.

“It’s almost an excuse to play with color and embrace it. I just enjoy playing around with it, like fashion,” she said.

The “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” singer started off her night at the CMT Music Awards by walking the red carpet in a mesh butterfly-inspired gown featuring a high slit, cutouts, and of course, her stunning red hair to pull the whole look together.

Once inside the star-studded event, Twain changed into a glamorous two-piece purple set, paired with a black cowboy hat and black over-the-knee boots. She donned this fashionable look in front of the audience as she took the stage to accept her Equal Play Award.

Her red hair at the CMT Awards was a slightly more neutral shade compared to the bright red wig she sported while attending the Grammys in February. During this event, she discussed her fashion choices with E! once again, explaining she needed a “splash of color” in her hair to stand out from the white and black polka dot suit that also included a matching oversized hat.

Aside from her bold fashion, another recent topic of conversation with Twain has been her sixth album, Queen of Me, which dropped on February 3. Produced by and featuring Tyler Joseph (Twenty One Pilots), this album marks her first full-length collection since 2017.

Her single, “Giddy Up!” opens the 12-track project, which “represents a deep and dynamic creative statement from this iconic voice.” The track list contains a mix of brand-new tunes as well as previous releases including “Waking Up Dreaming,” “Last Day of Summer,” and the title track to her 2022 career-spanning documentary, “Not Just A Girl.”

“Right now, I’m feeling very comfortable in my own skin – and this album reflects that musically. Life is short and I want to be uplifted, colorful, unapologetic and empowered,” Twain previously explained of the project on Twitter. ”I want to carry a clear message, particularly as a woman, to always remember my power and I hope the songs are a reminder to you, of that same power inside you!”

Twain has set the stage for the rest of her year with the official debut project for her new label partner Republic Nashville, a division of Republic Records.

At the end of April, the five-time GRAMMY winner will take her new music on the road for the first time in nearly five years. Her global Queen of Me Tour kicks off with a sold-out show at Spokane Arena in Spokane, WA before continuing to 49 cities across North America and Europe in Vancouver, Denver, Toronto, Los Angeles, New York, London, Dublin and more. The run will wrap up on November 14th at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC.

This trek will follow her wildly successful Vegas residency. Produced by Live Nation, the Queen of Me Tour will feature a slew of rising country stars including Kelsea Ballerini, Lindsay Ell, Hailey Whitters, Breland, Robyn Ottolini, Priscilla Block, and Mickey Guyton, Lily Rose, Talk, and Tenille Townes on select dates.
